What is the Excavation™, and why does it matter?
The Excavation is a guided, reflective coaching process that helps you understand the person behind the application. Together, we explore your values, strengths, interests, meaningful experiences, and the possibilities you want to explore. You do not need to have your whole life mapped out.
For young people, it creates room to discover your own direction. We look beyond grades and activity lists to what you enjoy, what matters to you, what you bring to a community, and how you want to grow. That gives us a thoughtful foundation for choosing subjects and universities and for telling stories that sound like you.
You leave with a written roadmap bringing together the themes, stories, strengths, and practical next steps we uncover. We use it in your applications and interviews, and you can return to it when considering internships, your first jobs, and future choices. Your interests can change; the roadmap is a starting point you can build on.
The Excavation creates the foundation; your coaching hours help you put it into practice. You remain the author of your applications. Comprehensive partnerships include the Excavation once, and the flexible Excavation + ten-hour package keeps the full process separate from your ten coaching hours.
Flexible coaching and the Excavation™
| Offer | Standard USD | Eligible service families |
|---|---|---|
| One hour of focused coaching | $295 | $200 |
| Ten coaching hours | $2,500 | $1,750 |
| Excavation™ + written roadmap | $1,200 | $1,200 |
| Excavation™ + ten coaching hours | $3,700 | $2,950 |
The Excavation is separate from your coaching hours. Your full reflective coaching process and written roadmap are followed by ten hours of agreed application support. Coaching sessions, agreed preparation, program research, and written feedback count toward those hours. Hours are valid for six months. Flexible coaching does not promise completion of a fixed number of applications.
Service-family rates are available to State Department, international NGO or charity, and military families. Please mention your eligibility when you inquire. Comprehensive application packages include the Excavation once; it is not charged again as an add-on.
